The installation of Dr. David Manuel as the seventeenth president of Drury University will take place at 3 p.m. on Friday, September 20, 2013, in Stone Chapel. Dr. Manuel has selected “Learn – Engage – Serve,” as his inaugural theme and the Installation Committee has scheduled a series of events during the week of September 16 to reflect Drury’s commitment to education, community engagement and service.

Events throughout the week include a student & alumni reception, musical performance by mezzo soprano Tynan Davis, a campuswide day of service, convocation events, installation ceremony and a campuswide reception following the formal ceremony.

The Installation Ceremony formally places Dr. Manuel into office as the 17th president of Drury University. We begin the ceremony with the processional, which features members of the Drury faculty and administration, members of the board of trustees, and special guests of the university. Following an opening prayer, members of the campus and the Springfield community relay their words of welcome to the president. A short musical offering follows, leading to a keynote address that prepares the way for the culminating moment, when Dr. Manuel is installed by the Chair of Drury’s Board of Trustees. The alma mater of the university concludes the ceremony.

The installation of Dr. David Manuel represents an occasion to celebrate Drury University: to honor its past, to mark the beginning of a new chapter, and to look forward to an institution marked by scholarship, engagement and service.
